Hey everyone! Today I am doing a hair post! The last time I did a hair post with pictures of the results it was really well received so when I was offered the chance to review the Cloud Nine irons that lookfantastic.com is now carrying I jumped at the chance! There are going to be a lot of pictures in the post, but this is your warning now- I have both curled/waved my hair with this iron and wanted to show both amongst other things.
I really love the motto of this company, because on their irons you are able to adjust the heat depending on how much your hair needs to get the job done. I've owned just about every straightener that is a "popular" straightener, and most if not all don't have heat settings. My Chi (oh high school...) didn't have a heat setting (and always snagged my hair), then I moved up to a GHD which didn't have a heat setting and when you see your hair steaming from such a high temperature, that can be a bit worrisome.
This is what it looks like when you open up the box, it comes with a safety mat, straightener, and also a cute little silken carrying bag (similar to the ones that come with sunglasses! Or purse dust bags!) to store it in. I love all of the added touches that Cloud Nine put into this product because it leaves me so impressed.
I chose the "wide" iron because my GHD is the skinnier one, and since I can't curl or wave my hair to save my life with that one...I decided to give a wider one a chance. Plus I am forever after the Blake Lively, Rachel Zoe, Olsen twins hairstyle - that effortless boho chic style with tousled soft waves and I figured since my curling wand gives me more defined curls maybe I could achieve that look with an iron.
Had to include my bedhead so that we know what we're workin' with. Here is my lion's mane on the daily (some of you may think it looks okay from the back, but somehow it doesn't look this way in the front!)
Also, as a disclaimer for all of these pictures I didn't use any products except for the two that I always use when I get out of the shower (but after it was dry I didn't touch it to tame any frizz or flyways, smooth it, etc. So anything you see is all due to Cloud Nine)
Miraculously (without much difficulty) I managed to curl my hair with it!!! I was shocked and amazed! I've always wanted to curl my hair with an iron because it really smooths it and de-frizzes everything.
Here is day two hair, which I was able to straighten (usually if I curl my hair it physically will not straighten until I wash it and start over)
And here's a better view from the back to see how amazingly pin straight I was able to get my hair. I only had it set at 150F (on the lower end) because it is a bit damaged at the bottom from my ombre and it didn't need a higher heat setting. I didn't have to run over the piece of my hair five times, the first time I ran the iron over it, it was straight (or it was curled-whichever I was doing) which is so much better for your hair. I remember being in middle school and having to run my Revlon "ceramic ion" straightener over my hair about twenty times to actually straighten it.
