Straight out of the gate, we all know that I have been steadily working on shedding the pounds over the last year and still continuing to do so. One of the simplest and easiest tricks I've learned to shed the weight is to stop drinking sugary drinks (sodas, juices, etc.) and switch over to water (or sparkling water...I LOVE that stuff. It makes me feel like I'm drinking a soda when I'm actually not but make sure you check the salt on them! They can be high in sodium).
Let's face it, drinking water 24/7 is boring. It isn't exciting and then you're in the store and see that bottle of your favorite soda or juice and feel it just calling to you while you're holding a bottle of water in your hand- not a good situation! I've always had my water bottles and put fruit in them to try and liven up the flavor but after a while the fruit gets really gross looking and you can't get it out of the bottle without washing the whole thing and you get a LOT of strange looks when you have pieces of orange floating around in a water bottle.
And THAT my friends is where this beautiful invention, the Citrus Zinger comes in.
Basically, the company Zing Anything has created an entire line of bottles dedicated to being able to infuse fruit into water, they have one for vodka, they even have one to make salad dressings! I have my eye on the Aqua Zinger that is insulated and grinds up fruit (like berries) and infuses them into your water by how much you use the grinder.
I have been searching for over two years probably for these fruit infuser bottles, but the only things I could find look like the Starbucks cups with the straws, and they have what looks like a tea strainer inside where you put the fruit, and then you can take it out when it's infused to your liking. That just wasn't cutting it for me. I need something that I can throw in my bag on my way to school that I don't have to worry about spilling or dumping (especially in winter I DO NOT want to be carrying a cold cup in my hands) so I had searched the internet high and low for something more efficient. Hadn't found it, and then I saw someone tweet about this brand and almost had a heart attack looking through their website because they had everything I wanted and more! (AquaZinger here I come!)
So in the first picture the bottle is entirely put together (the top of it is clear, that's just a paper insert with recipes that I also show at the bottom for drink ideas) and the picture above is the bottle taken apart. Basically it is a juicer mixed with a water bottle. Sounds simple, sounds like so many companies would have this but they don't! This is the first company I've seen with bottles that function the way they do too.
Here is a view of what the bottle looks like if you look straight down into it with the lid off, so the underside of the juicer (I just thought this picture looked super cool....)
As a side note, this bottle is RIDICULOUSLY easy to clean because of the way it comes apart, you have the whole wide part to stick your hand into to scrub out (I don't have a dishwasher, I wash everything by hand so that's definitely an important factor for me!)
So what you do is cut up any fruit (this one is catered more towards citrus fruits, and the AquaZinger is catered more towards things like berries and non-citrus fruits) and you juice the fruit like you would a normal manual juicer.
Here you can see me juicing a MASSIVE orange, and then once you're done juicing it you can screw the bottom on and leave the fruit in there (in this scenario the orange half) for more juicing later if you fill your bottle a second time!
Here's what it looks like after you've completed that incredibly easy process (I had drank some off the top already oops- and it doesn't come with a carabiner, I just added that for ease of clipping it to something. (It also looks like there isn't any water in the bottom compartment, but there is). After you fill it with water i like to tip it over a few times to almost shake it and get all the good juices and mixes flowing and mixing together.
