I ♡ Makeup I am... Palettes*
Hey everyone! Today I am coming at you with one of the most ingenious little palettes (or palette range) that I've ever seen. Basically these palettes are themed according to their name, and when you open them up there are 6 eyeshadows that all correspond and a lipstick that you would most likely wear with that look. I have swatched and have pictures of all four of these palettes in this post so beware it is a touch picture heavy (I warned you, but it's worth it!)
These palettes are also on sale for £4.99 instead of £5.99 so I would jump on it. Okay I did the funniest thing, I had my dad basically swatch similar colors from the Urban Decay palettes and tell me which one he thought was higher quality, I didn't tell him anything about either one just told him which shadows to stick his fingers into and put on his hand, and Makeup Revolution won everytime! Which is fantastic- also a disclaimer there is an actual dupe for Stila Kitten in the I am Naked palette, and we all know that eyeshadow shatters if you sneeze wrong, and Maggie (my puppy- you should know who she is by now she's all over every social media site I have) accidentally jumped on my bed and this fell off and the Kitten dupe shattered but I repressed it! And even though the palette looks a little worse for wear, the shadows are still the exact same quality as when I got it, the kitten looking shadow is just a little emptier and looks a bit sadder (but the swatches were done after I repressed the shadow!)
Alright we'll talk about the first palettte, I ♡ Makeup I am in Love. This palette is a very pink toned palette that is similar to the Naked 3 that I think really aims at giving you that ethereal really romantic look, the colors in it are absolutely gorgeous, you have some mattes, some shimmers, and some sparkly glittery ones (this is how all the palettes are- and they all have six shadows and one lipstick and a sponge tip applicator).
This picture is really aimed at showing how securely the lipstick is tucked into this palette, if you flipped it upside down and shook it as hard as you can the lipstick wouldn't fall out. You can just toss this palette in your bag and not have to worry about the lipstick being on one side of your purse or makeup bag and the palette on the other. This is how all of the lipsticks are in the palettes (so for the sake of picture heaviness I won't include a picture like this again)
Here I think you can really see how the colors correspond with each other. When they picked the colors to include in these palettes I seriously think they brought in a giant team of makeup artists, locked them in a room for a few days, and out popped these colors. They're so gorgeous and pair together so well (I've used 3/4 because I wanted to get this up to tell you about the sale- haven't used I am Sexy) The lipstick in this palette is literally a barbie pink, and just look how beautiful these palettes look laid out. Like would you not want to look at that beautiful rose toned palette? It's GORGEOUS!
Here are the swatches in the exact same order as in the palette. The first one you can't really see because it is so close to my skin color but it is VERY pigmented. The "black" on the very end is actually a very dark burnt plum kind of cool that you could really build up if you wanted to. All of these swatches, I swiped my finger in the shadow once, and then swiped it up and down on my arm to make sure I got most of the shadow off of my finger (just to give you an idea of the pigmentation).
I think my favorite colors if I had to pick is the matte rose color because it's SO pigmented (probably the most pigmented and buttery of the palette) and the top far right sparkly copper shade, but I also love all of the other ones...I can't choose it's too difficult.
The lipstick on the far right is a bit brighter in person. Think of barbie pink and you have this lipstick- it also can be dabbed on for a toned down effect (that's what I did), when I used these palettes I wanted to use the corresponding lipstick to get the full effect and they all go together so beautifully!
The lipstick that comes with this is the most beautiful caramel colored nude that I think would honestly flatter any skin tone. I'm as fair as they come and I loved how it looked on me! And they always say tanner/deeper skin tones should lean towards caramel tones so I think they hit the nail on the head with this neutrals palette - and again look how gorgeous it is.
THESE SWATCHES. Let's just take a moment, because this is about as beautiful as they come - I'ma neutral browns kinda girl so this is heaven. The top middle is the one I smashed, so I think it looks exactly the same as before and gorgeous! They really include everything you need to do a complete eye look, there's even a matte light color and a light shimmer for an inner corner highlight.
This is one of the colors I had my dad test against the UD Naked palettes- he had no idea of price or anything, so I had him test the gold against half baked and he literally said UD half baked was terrible and gritty compared to the Makeup Revolution shadow. That my friends is a completely unbiased opinion, I saw there were similar colors and just decided to do a little experiment and there you have it! Makeup Revolution beat Urban Decay, and all of the palettes have the same quality of shadows.
Next! This is a more wintery palette in my opinion, it has a nice dark raspberry lipstick, and dark purples, gunmetal grey, and a darker brown thrown into the mix (with of course a highlight color).
They definitely named this appropriately, this is definitely for the strong woman. I can see a business woman or just a girl who's really into makeup and isn't afraid of a stronger eye with a stronger lip, or even just a girl that can take some of the toned down colors and pair them up using this palette. Basically everyone...
Here are the swatches so you can really see the true beauty of these colors. In the pan, the bottom right color looks black, but it's really a duo chrome purple black/grey (I'm sure it would build up to being blacker if you applied it more heavily). In the pan some of these colors look darker than they really are. And can we take a moment to admire the purple on the bottom row in the middle- it's literally the most beautiful eggplant shimmery purple I've ever seen and could be paired with browns or paired with blacks, or even the darker duo chrome color in the palette!
This would be a perfect palette for people with hazel or green eyes as they always say to pair purples to make your eyes pop and this is a very subtle transition into wearing color on your eyes. I'm terrified of colors that aren't neutrals, but somehow I love all of these palettes...and there's only one neutral one. I think the swatches really speak for themselves especially on this palette.
And the last gorgeous palette, the one that I personally have not gotten a chance to wear simply because I have had these for three days and there's four palettes. This palette comes with bright fire engine lipstick, which I think fits perfectly with the I am Sexy title (in the swatch it looks a little pinky red, but I promise it is a bold fire engine red color). This is the ultimate night out palette.
This palette, right here is the ULTIMATE day to night palette. Do your eye makeup with this in the morning with the lighter more neutral shades, throw it in your bag, touch up at work or school, change your lipstick to the lipstick in the palette and you're ready for a night out in less than five minutes.
It looks like there are mostly dark colors in the pan, but when you look below you can see that the colors are very wearable actually. The ONE THING that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't captured was the final color, bottom right- is a black, but it has green, silver, purple, and blue glitter flecks running through it and it is SO gorgeous!
For some reason the lipstick looks magenta, but like I said earlier it is a fire engine red color. However all of the eyeshadow swatches are spot on (like in all the other swatches, the colors are exactly how I see them in person on these pictures except the few I mentioned). These colors are all so freaking gorgeous and now I think you can see what I mean about taking a look from day to night with this palette. If I were to take any makeup in my bag for a night out it would be this palette.
